- The documentary “Loretta Lynn: My Story In My Words” premieres on PBS (February 27, 2021).
- Luke Combs released his song “Forever After All“
- Taylor Swift topped the Hot Country chart with a re-make of “Love Story“
- Travis Tritt announced his “Set in Stone” album (his first album in 14 years)
- Country music superstar Luke Bryan will release a deluxe version of his No. 1, RIAA gold certified album Born Here Live Here Die Here (Deluxe Edition) on April 9th adding six new songs to the collection. He says the reason he added six new tracks is because of COVID and the songs worked seamlessly side-by-side with the original 10 tracks.

- Luke Combs performed prior to the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach (February 14, 2021).
- Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton co-hosted a two-hour NBC special, “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years Of Country Music.” The lineup includes Lady A, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Kane Brown and Dierks Bentley, who covers “Pancho And Lefty” with Marty Stuart (February 14, 2021).
- Kane Brown announced the launch of a new record label, 1021 Entertainment, formed in conjunction with Sony Music Nashville. His first signing is a trio, Restless Road
- Drummer Richie Albright passed away on February 9, 2021.. Richie was a longtime member of Waylon Jennings’ band and he played on more than 20 of Jennings’ hits, including “Good Hearted Woman,” “Are You Ready For The Country” and “I Ain’t Living Long Like This”.
- Mickey Guyton and husband Grant Savoy welcomed a son, Grayson Clark Savoy (February 8, 2021).
Country Music News: February 1, 2021 – February 7, 2021
- Dolly Parton revealed that she twice turned down Donald Trump’s offer to present her the Presidential Medal of Freedom (her husband was sick the first year, and she declined to travel during the pandemic the second year).
- A video of Morgan Wallen using a racial slur outside of his Nashville home surfaced on TMZ, creating multiple forms of punishment from the country music industry over the next days.
- A day after video surfaced of Morgan Wallen using a racial slur, multiple radio chains and online platforms removed his music and videos. His Big Loud record label suspended him indefinitely, and the Academy of Country Music declared him ineligible for awards in 2021.
- Brothers Osborne vocalist T.J. Osborne revealed he is gay in Time magazine, becoming the first male country artist to come out while on the roster of a major record label.
- Songwriter Jim Weatherly passed away at his home in Brentwood, Tennessee. A member of Songwriters Hall of Fame, he penned country hits for Charley Pride, Bob Luman and Ray Price. He also nabbed several pop hits with Gladys Knight & The Pips (including “Midnight Train To Georgia”)
- A Squarespace commercial featured Dolly Parton’s reworked version of “9 To 5” as “5 To 9” makes its TV debut during the Super Bowl.
- Eric Church performed the national anthem with R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan before the Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on February 7, 2021.
- Parker McCollum made his Grand Ole Opry debut on February 6, 2021.
- Luke Bryan sang “One Margarita” and “Play It Again” during “The Big Concert For Small Business,” a post-Super Bowl event that airs on more than a dozen TV, radio and internet platforms. Eric Church, performed an acoustic version of “Round Here Buzz”.
- Rhonda Vincent was officially inducted in the Grand Ole Opry, performing “Mama Tried” with Dierks Bentley. during the night.
- Songwriter Jim Weatherly passed away at his home in Brentwood, Tennessee on February 3, 2021.
