Willie Nelson’s Sons tend to be more digitally connected than their famous father. How are artists connecting with fans? They are turning to social media of course! Like many other artists, Annie D’Angelo and Willie Nelson‘s sons, Lukas and Micah, continue to provide entertainment for their fans through YouTube and social media.
Willie Nelson and his wife, Annie D’Angelo, have two sons together, Lukas and Micah Nelson, both of whom have followed in their father’s musical footsteps. Lukas Nelson, born in 1988, is the frontman of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, a band that has gained widespread recognition for its blend of rock, country, and folk. The group has collaborated with Neil Young and performed as his backing band, further cementing Lukas’ reputation as a talented musician. Micah Nelson, born in 1990, is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and visual artist known for his work with his experimental band Particle Kid. Both brothers have embraced their father’s musical legacy while forging their own unique paths in the industry, often collaborating with Willie on stage and in the studio.
Recently, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real had to cancel the spring portion of their The Naked Garden Tour. But their new “Movie in My Mind” music video premiered. The band is set to release their new album, Naked Garden, on March 27th.
The Nelson family had to postpone their music festival, Luck Reunion, that was to be held March 19th at the Willie Nelson’s Texas ranch. Instead, many artists including Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Jewel, Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, Margo Price, and others livestreamed their performances.
Micah Nelson, Willie’s youngest son, aka Particle Kid performed, “Live! Underground”. While hunkering down with family at the ranch, Micah is also plans to produce a humorously silly livestream variety show called “Quarantine Home Companion”. In addition to his artistic endeavors he’s preparing the family garden for planting season and dabbling in bee-keeping and worm composting. During an online interview with Rolling Stone, Micah stated, “I’ve been wanting to spend time on that for years, now – finally have an opportunity!” Check out his Facebook page here.
Who knows, maybe all of this social distancing will have an upside. Maybe people will gain a new perspective and seek new opportunities that would have otherwise been untapped. In the meanwhile, stay safe and remember to think of others as we move forward together, yet apart.
