Heidi Feek and Hopie Feek, Rory‘s two adult daughters from his first marriage to Tamara Gilmer, have stepped up a lot to provide care and comfort to their father and 7-year-old half-sister, Indiana, as they heal from the loss of Joey Feek in March 2016 to cervical cancer.
“Seeing Indy grow and change, I can’t help but think of her big sisters Heidi and Hopie, and how quickly they seemed to go from growing to grown. And how rapidly life passes by, even when you’re trying not to miss it,” Rory shared in his most recent blog post.

Big kudos to Heidi Feek and Hopie Feek for being pillars of strength and stability for their father and little sister. In past blog posts, Rory has mentioned his time as a single father and his parenting shortcomings. He claims that he had selfish moments and focused too much on building his songwriting career.
No parent is perfect and he obviously did something very right while raising his oldest daughters. They are sincere, resilient, loving, and loyal— a testament to good parenting.
