During Brooks’ interview, Clarkson shared that his song “The Dance” has been helping her through her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which is getting messy.

“There’s been a lot of books and people always give you stuff to help, especially when you have kids,” she confessed. “It was like, ‘Man, there’s so much shame and guilt and everybody kind of sends you stuff.”

Clarkson went on to explain that she was having trouble nailing down exactly how she’s been feeling, but when she listened to “The Dance” on her music playlist, she realized it summed up all of her emotions.

“I was listening to my room and I was just like [crying],'” she said. “I got the point. And I think sometimes that’s so crazy, you don’t know that’s going to happen. You’ve known this song your entire life and you freak out when it actually is a direct impact.”

The star has penned a song for her upcoming album inspired by the message of “The Dance,” with the lyrics, “Even though my heart is broken, it was worth the dance anyway.”

We look forward to hearing it and wish Kelly the best as she starts this new chapter. Share this Garth Brooks and Kelly Clarkson performance with other fans!

“Shallow” Lyrics

Tell me somethin’, girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there somethin’ else you’re searchin’ for?
I’m falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longin’ for change
And in the bad times I fear myself
Tell me something, boy
Aren’t you tired tryin’ to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
Ain’t it hard keeping it so hardcore?
I’m falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longing for a change
And in the bad times I fear myself
I’m off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I’ll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can’t hurt us
We’re far from the shallow now
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
We’re far from the shallow now
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoah
I’m off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I’ll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can’t hurt us
We’re far from the shallow now
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
We’re far from the shallow now
