Some country songs just hit you right in the heart and dive deep into the listener’s soul. Country music star Miranda Lambert‘s “Tin Man” is one of those rare and special country tunes. The singer co-wrote the song with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall and it appears as the first track on “The Heart” side of The Weight of These Wings double album, which dropped in November 2016.
“Tin Man” feels very personal and Lambert has said that she drew songwriting inspiration from some painful moments from the last few years of her life. Lambert divorced fellow country music hit-maker Blake Shelton in July 2015 after four years of marriage and has since married NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin.

“Tin Man” Lyrics
Hey there Mr. Tin Man
You don’t know how lucky you are
You shouldn’t spend your whole life wishin’
For something bound to fall apart
Every time you’re feeling empty
Better thank you lucky stars
If you ever felt one breaking
You’d never want a heart
Hey there Mr. Tin Man
You don’t know how lucky you are
I’ve been on the road that you’re on
It didn’t get me very far
You ain’t missing nothing
‘Cause love is so damn hard
Take it from me darling
You don’t want a heart
Hey there Mr. Tin Man
I’m glad we talked this out
You can take mine if you want it
It’s in pieces now
By the way there Mr. Tin Man
If you don’t mind the scars
You give me your armor
And you can have my heart
The use of the Wizard of Oz’s Tin Man character in these powerful lyrics is a brilliant way to convey her very real heartbreak. Miranda Lambert’s music comes from a very real place and you can really feel that with this song in particular.
