Country music star Blake Shelton's "Hell Right" teams him back up with Trace Adkins! Watch the music video, acoustic version, and more here!

The Hell Right song comes steeped in the rugged heart of “God’s Country” but tinted with the swagger of his biggest hits like “Hillbilly Bone” and “Boys ‘Round Here.” Blake and Trace have a friendship that goes way back in country music.  On September 28, 2010, Trace Adkins invited Shelton to become a member of The Grand Ole Opry after the pair performed the song Hillbilly Bone” at the Grand Ole Opry House.  Now, the pair has collaborated on their “Hell Right” song.

“This song is about taking things to the max,” Shelton shares. “You can raise hell or you can raise hell right. It’s about cutting loose and having fun the right way. I spend a lot of time in Los Angeles these days, but when I hear songs like this on the radio, I am immediately thinking about being back home and what I’d be doing if I was there. The first time I heard ‘God’s Country’ I was on my ranch in Oklahoma. As a guy who actually lives this lifestyle, ‘Hell Right’ hits me in the soul now just as much as ‘God’s Country’ did then.”

“The thing that I love about what I’m doing right now, as far as recording and releasing music goes, is that I’m able to have an immediate reaction to something – and ‘Hell Right’ is an example of that,” Shelton explained in a recent statement. “We had several songs cut that we had been excited about and still are, but when I heard ‘Hell Right’ I called my producer Scott and said, ‘I don’t want to rock the boat here, I just feel like we need to go in and cut this and see how it works out.’ After living with it about three or four days, I just had an idea that Trace Adkins would be perfect to have on this record with me. I’ve been saying for the last few months, I’m just recording songs that I want to make with no apologies, with no rhyme or reason, and I’ve been making them with the people I want to make them with. I’m just making records that I’m excited about.”

Behind The Scenes

Now for the acoustic version…

This single follows one of Shelton’s biggest smashes to date— “God’s Country”, which became his 26th No. 1 hit.  Country music star Blake Shelton‘s “Hell Right”, featuring Trace Adkins, was penned by David Garcia, Brett Tyler, and Michael Hardy.

Hell Right Song Lyrics

Hey
Yeah?
Tell ’em that story you were telling me
Couple boys clock out about 5:35
Tryna’ put a little hammer in their head
Standing in the liquor store staring at a 5th
But they picked up a handle instead
Hell right, hell right
Hell right (Okay)
Couple girls with their boots on
Got their bluetooth on
T-shirt saying ‘Go Sinners’
Then the girl from the small town
Took off the old town
Put on a little Hank junior (Thank God)
Hell right
She got all her rowdy friends coming over tonight
Hell right, hell right
Everybody’s throwing down on a Friday night
Somewhere in America
There’s a bottle to burn
And a fire to light
And you ain’t done nothing
If you did it halfway
If you’re gonna raise hell
Then you better damn raise
Hell right, hell right, hell right
There’s a guitar on the ground
That was making some sound
‘Til somebody pulled a hillbilly slip
Now there’s fog on the window
She never would have kissed him
If he didn’t play a lick like this
Hell right
Hell right
Hell right, hell right
Everybody’s throwing down on a Friday night
Somewhere in America
There’s a bottle to burn
And a fire to light
And you ain’t done nothing
If you did it halfway
If you’re gonna raise hell
Then you better damn raise
Hell right, hell right, hell right
Now it’s 7 a.m., damn if there ain’t
An empty handle on a square hay bale
Everybody’s passed out drunk
But when they wake up
They’re all gonna hurt like hell right?
Yeah boy
Hell right, hell right
Everybody’s throwing down on a Friday night
Somewhere in America
There’s a bottle to burn
And a fire to light
And you ain’t done nothing
If you did it halfway
If you’re gonna raise hell
Then you better damn raise
Hell right, hell right, hell right
