Country Music duo Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood's marriage will be entering its twelfth year in December. Check out what the pair had to say about their union and careers!

Country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have been in the country music limelight for a number of decades and have both experienced marriages not lasting through the wear and tear of fame. Brooks was previously married to Sandy Mahl, with whom he has three grown daughters Taylor, August, and Allie. Yearwood was married to musician Chris Latham (1987-1991) and The Mavericks’ bass player Robert “Bobby” Reynolds (1994-1999).

Despite having multiple failed marriages between them, Brooks and Yearwood gave marriage another try and got hitched on December 10, 2005 at their home in Owasso, Oklahoma. It appears that the longtime friends got married at the perfect time in their lives and careers.

“I’m not sure if we would have gotten married when we were younger and starting this, if we would still be together or have the careers that we have. That’s a tough one,” Garth shared during a recent media event. “So, getting to meet after things had kind of gotten established has allowed us to be together the majority of the times. Sometimes it pulls you in different places, but I think always knowing that, good Lord willing, you’re going to come back to each other, is what I love about being married to another celebrity.”

Yearwood added, “It’s hard for me to talk about Garth and not sound like his wife, but I’ve known him for over 25 years, and I can tell you that my very first tour was opening for Garth. I learned how to be an artist, I learned how to treat people. I learned the ropes from him. I learned that you can’t hit ‘em if you don’t swing at them; you have to get out there and get out of your comfort zone, and that’s something that I don’t think I would have done without him as a friend, and now as a husband.”

Balancing the needs of two entertainers does present its own unique set of hurdles, but Brooks and Yearwood have found ways to combine their work and personal lives. As fans well know, the couple are currently on their wildly popular World Tour, which kicked off back in 2014.

“We made a commitment when we got married that we wanted to be together, and that sounds like a simple thing to say in a marriage, but this business, and how separate careers are, it makes it hard to be married,” she shared. “I don’t know that I would have been that committed to do that in my 20s, but getting married at 41, I was like, ‘I’m ready. This is where I want to be.’ And how lucky are we that we get to live that dream, we get to do what we love to do, and we get to do it together?”

Standing next to the QUEEN makes any day a great day, but especially today! love, g #CMAawards50
