Trisha Yearwood will play the mother of Jesus Christ in the Fox network’s production of The Passion, which will air tomorrow night (March 20). Yearwood admits that the role has taken an emotional toll on her, which is understandable.
She told People that “I’m having to sing songs that I’m going to be singing at the foot of the cross, and I had to be thinking about what was happening in the story when I was singing the song. I got very emotional, which is not the norm for me in the studio. That was the last time I’ve cried.”
In the video below, Yearwood talks about taking a different approach to the role than she usually does when singing other people’s songs.
