Country music hit-maker Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins adopted their eldest daughter, Willa Gray, from Uganda and welcomed her home in May 2017. Going through the international adoption process was lengthy and stressful, but that hasn’t stopped the couple from thinking about adopting again!
“For me and Lauren, it was one of the most amazing but also challenging experiences of our lives and it is something that totally changed our lives for forever. Willa Gray is literally the joy of my world. I cannot imagine living my life without Willa Gray today,” Thomas Rhett candidly expressed to E! News. “It’s one of those things that you should really think hard about, but also know that if you do it, you are giving somebody a chance at a life they may not have had otherwise.”
The star added, “[It’s] something we will more than likely do again. Lauren wants a million kids so we need to get back on that train.”
By the way, November is National Adoption Awareness Month. November 1st is also Willa Gray’s third birthday!
“Happy birthday sweet baby girl! How in the world are you 3 already?!?! I need to pause life cause it’s just moving too fast. I love you more than anything in the world🙌🏼,” the country star shared via Instagram in celebration of Willa’s birthday.
“My sweet, smart, soooo goofy beautiful baby girl who made me a mama💕💕 Happy 3rd birthday cutie pie!!!!! Life is so fun with you and you are the BEST big sister to Ada James😩😘 Your sweet little spirit makes the world around you a better place💗 I am so proud of who you are Willa Gray girl😘🎉🎂🎈💜🦄🌈 Love you to the moon and back always 🌙✨,” Lauren shared on Instagram along with a cute photo gallery.
Over the summer, Thomas Rhett explained to Access Online that his wife has certain goals in mind when it comes to expanding their family. “Lauren wants to have five kids before she turns 34. That is her plan. So you can probably expect three new babies in the next five years. She’s the boss.”
As for timing on adding another child to the family, Rhett shared, “I don’t know when. We’ll probably just wait for God to put that in our path and figure that out in that way, but we would definitely love to adopt again.”
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for this country music family! Share this update with other fans!
