As reported by Variety, country music singer-songwriter Shania Twain has joined the cast of “Trading Paint.” The film focuses on the world of dirt track racing and also stars John Travolta, Michael Madsen, Toby Sebastian, along with Kevin Dunn.
Travolta portrays a struggling racing legend who is drawn back into the winner’s circle after his son, an aspiring driver, joins a competitor’s racing team. This move sparks an intense and dangerous competition between father and son.
“It’s well know that dirt track racing is one of the most exciting sports in the world, and it’s also one of the most dangerous. Our story is rooted in that high-speed danger, but also very much character driven, and this is where having someone of John’s caliber and gravitas pays great dividends,” producer Andrea Iervolino shared.
Twain has the role of a character named Becca, but additional details about her involvement in the project have not been revealed yet. The movie is to be shot in Alabama through mid-September at several locations throughout the state and is expected to be released June 2018. The will be the Canadian entertainer’s acting debut — unless you count her small cameo appearance in 2004’s I Heart Huckabees.

While we eagerly await Twain gracing the silver screen, we are counting down the days until her highly-anticipated album, Now, drops on September 29th. Offered as both a 16-track deluxe and a 12-track standard album, both versions feature the star’s current single, “Life’s About To Get Good,” now spinning on country radio. All songs on Now were written solely by Shania, who also served as co-producer on the project.
