“So I just got home from moving Avery to Nashville and I walked upstairs and saw his empty bedroom. For all you moms out there with your eldest child just leaving home, let’s all say a prayer for each other tonight. This is REALLY REALLY difficult. More than I thought it would be. I knew this day was coming but wow, it hits you like a ton of bricks! My girls and I have been crying for several days. However, I do know that we are so blessed and I know that this is all a part of life and I am so happy for my son and excited for him to begin his journey into his adult life. Anyway, cheers to all the parents and siblings out in the world tonight going “someone is missing”. 😢 #familyiseverything #wemissyoualready #gokickass #guitarplayer #lettingyougo,” Evans shared in a heartfelt post to Instagram along with a snapshot of her son’s empty room.
Goodness, Sara’s heartfelt and very honest message just hits you in the heart. Avery and his two teenage sisters, Olivia and Audrey, are from the star’s first marriage to Craig Schelske. After Sara and Craig divorced, the “Born to Fly” singer married former Alabama football star Jay Barker in 2008. Barker was also divorced and brought four children into their blended household— Andrew, Braxton, and twins Sarah Ashlee and Harrison.

We wish Sara and her family the best as they adjust to Avery being hours away. Listen to “Letting You Go” below!
“Letting You Go” Lyrics
Wasn’t I brushing the hair from your face
Wasn’t I just drying your tears and singing you sweet dreams at night
Seems like it was just yesterday
Suddenly you’re seventeen and it’s just 18 months ’til goodbye
I’d rather deny it
God knows I’d try if I could keep you here at home, but I know
Loving you is holding you
Lifting you up
Planting the seeds and then watching you grow
Even though it’s hard to do
It’s letting you fall
And giving you wings so you fly on your own
‘Cause part of loving you is letting you go
All of your life I’ve prepared you to leave
Now that little boy’s all grown up and it’s too late for changing my mind
But nobody ever warned me
That the years go too fast and there’s just no pressing rewind
‘Cause time is a liar, wish I could set the clock on fire
Turn it back to yesterday
Oh but it just keeps tickin’ away
Loving you is holding you
Lifting you up
Planting the seeds and then watching you grow
Even though it’s hard to do
It’s letting you fall
And giving you wings so you fly on your own
Part of loving you is letting you go
No matter how I wanna make you stay
You were also born to fly away
Loving you is holding you
Lifting you up
Planting the seeds and then watching you grow
Even though it’s hard to do
It’s letting you fall
And giving you wings so you fly on your own
Part of loving you is letting you go
Letting you go
