Country music singer-songwriter Rory Feek recently took to the official Joey+Rory Facebook page to share a positive update about 3-year-old daughter Indy Feek‘s health.
“Indy’s six month heart checkup. The hole in her heart is getting smaller, and she is getting bigger and more beautiful,” Rory happily reported along with a series of photos from his little girl’s medical appointment.
What a relief! As Rory has explained in past This Life I Live entries, Indy has Down Syndrome and was born with a small hole in her heart.
“The first thing they had to do was give Indy an echocardiogram to fully check out her heart. I had read that many babies with down syndrome are born with a severe heart problem that requires open-heart-surgery right away. Though our midwife had checked Indy repeatedly since her birth for any sign of a heart problem (murmur, etc..) and hadn’t found anything to fear, it was important to get her checked out completely to be sure,” Rory and Joey shared with fans just days after Indy’s birth at home.
“After a few more tests, we sat in the waiting room waiting for the cardiologist Dr Moore to come in and tell us what they learned. When he came and sat with us, he looked over Indiana again very thoroughly and said, that she does have a whole [sic] in her heart, but it’s a small one, and not the serious one that they look for in baby’s with down syndrome. Her heart problem most-likely in time will heal itself and that we will all just keep an eye on it and come back and have her checked from time to time,” Rory candidly explained.
Thankfully, Dr. Moore was 100 percent correct and little Indy is thriving over three years later. Check out this sweet throwback video of Indy at 10-months-old watching her Momma get ready before a Christmas show.
As discussed previously, Rory has put together some Christmas shows in December with hopes to do more shows in 2018. The upcoming shows are dubbed “Once Upon A Christmas” and will span six shows over two weekends, December 1, 2, 3 and December 15, 16, 17. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
“Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year and this will be the first year that Indiana is old enough to begin to understand who Santa Claus is and what Christmas means, so it will be a very special one for us. I think having the shows here at the farm will make this holiday season even more meaningful. And in some ways, it will be a way for Joey to be with us. She is in every song I sing and story I tell. And every breath I breathe,” Rory explained about his return to performing.
Be sure to share this feel-good update with others following the Feek family’s inspiring journey!
