Country music star Reba McEntire‘s No U in Oklahoma has gone public ahead of her next album’s release on Friday, April 5th. Written by Reba, and in collaboration with Ronnie Dunn and Donna McSpadden, the country-western style hit is likely to have your boot tapping right along with the beat regardless of the mood you’re in. The upbeat tune features a pedal steel guitar, fiddle, and jazz piano that will make you feel as though you’re starring in an old-western film, saloons and all. The witty lyrics help tell a story of star-crossed love as she name-drops cities across the country.
“No U in Oklahoma” is the second song off of Reba’s upcoming album Stronger Than the Truth, following the release of the title track. Reba’s pride and heart is well-embedded in this album as she describes the project as, “probably the most country album I’ve ever recorded”. This album reaches back to her roots, reflecting on sounds she grew up listening to on a ranch in Oklahoma.

Reba McEntire’s No U In Oklahoma Lyrics
Well my daddy said the day he met you
We weren’t meant to be
Said that boy’s got a wild streak in him
That spelled trouble for me
My foolish heart had love to burn
You took it for a ride
Down a long road of twist and turns
Heartaches, hurt and lies
You put the T for tears in Texas
S for sad in St. Louis
Our reckless travels led us
To the state of Missouri
I cried clear ‘cross Carolina
‘Bout some bar in Tennessee
There’s no U in Oklahoma
And that’s okay with me
We tried KC, Fort Worth, Reno
Cheyenne, Timbuktu
Somewhere down round Tupelo
My daddy’s words rang true
I called it quits in T-Town
I finally had my say
Adios, see you around
I’m gone, you go your way
You put the T for tears in Texas
S for sad in St. Louis
Our reckless travels led us
To the state of Missouri
I cried clear ‘cross Carolina
‘Bout some bar in Tennessee
There’s no U in Oklahoma
And that’s okay with me
You put the T for tears in Texas
S for sad in St. Louis
Our reckless travels led us
To the state of Missouri
I cried clear ‘cross Carolina
‘Bout some bar in Tennessee
There’s no U in Oklahoma
And that’s okay with me
Oh there’s no U in Oklahoma
And that’s okay with me
Yodelayheehoo!
