Maren Morris emerged as one of the most dynamic and influential voices in contemporary country music. With her soulful voice, genre-blending sound, and fearless approach to songwriting, she has carved out a unique place in the music industry that extends far beyond traditional country boundaries. From her small-town Texas roots to Grammy-winning stardom, Maren’s journey is as inspiring as her music.

Maren Morris Early Life and Beginnings

Born on April 10, 1990, in Arlington, Texas, Maren Larae Morris grew up surrounded by music. Her parents owned a hair salon, but it was their encouragement of her passion for music that set her on the path to stardom. By the age of 12, Maren had already picked up a guitar and started writing her own songs.

Her early influences included a mix of traditional country icons like Dolly Parton and Shania Twain, as well as pop and rock artists such as The Dixie Chicks and John Mayer. This eclectic mix of inspirations would later play a key role in shaping her versatile sound.

Breakthrough with Hero

After years of writing songs for other artists in Nashville, including Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson, Maren decided it was time to step into the spotlight herself. In 2016, she released her major-label debut album, Hero. The album was a critical and commercial success, showcasing her ability to fuse country, pop, and R&B influences seamlessly.

These photos are on fire and tastefully done. Those boots are incredible! As expected, some have taken issue with these racy snapshots. Maren isn’t letting the criticism get to her.

“The thing about me is, I make music for myself. I learned later that it touches others, which is the most wonderful byproduct of a songwriter’s calling,” she clapped back via Instagram Story. “Some can slut-shame me for my lyrics about sex, and you can put me in your little box, but I just want to live and love. I recently accepted myself and will put these photos in a frame because I’ll never have this moment back. Can’t wait for you to read my interview with @playboy in their ‘Gender + Sexuality’ issue next week. I drop some truth too.”

Fun Fact: Country music icon Dolly Parton has also posed for Playboy and even graced the cover of the October 1978 issue!

“Girl” Lyrics

Man, this shit’s unflatterin’, all up in my head again
I don’t feel myself right now, maybe I should just lay down
If vanity’s my vitamin, well, I don’t feel the difference
I don’t like myself right now, gotta find a way out

What you feel is natural
But I don’t wanna feel this anymore
Pick yourself up off the kitchen floor
What you waitin’ for?

Girl, won’t you stop your cryin’?
I know that you’re tryin’
Everything’s gonna be okay
Baby girl, don’t you hang your head low
Don’t you lose your halo
Everyone’s gonna be okay
Baby girl

Draw your comparisons, tryin’ to find who’s lesser than
I don’t wanna wear your crown, there’s enough to go around

What you feel is natural (Natural)
You don’t gotta put up with this anymore (Anymore)
Pick yourself up off the kitchen floor (Oh)
Tell me what you waitin’ for?

Girl, won’t you stop your cryin’?
I know that you’re tryin’
Everything’s gonna be okay
Baby girl, don’t you hang your head low
Don’t you lose your halo
Everyone’s gonna be okay
Baby girl

Girl, don’t hang your head low
Don’t lose your halo, don’t lose your halo
Girl, don’t hang your head low
Don’t lose your halo, oh

Girl, don’t you stop your cryin’
I know that you’re tryin’
Everything’s gonna be okay
Baby girl, don’t you hang your head low
Don’t you lose your halo
Everyone’s gonna be okay
Baby girl, won’t you stop your cryin’? (Won’t you stop your crying?)
I know that you’re tryin’
Everything’s gonna be okay (Everything’s gonna be okay)
Baby girl, don’t you hang your head low
Don’t you lose your halo
Everyone’s gonna be okay (Everyone’s gonna be okay)
Baby girl

Everyone’s gonna okay, baby
Mmm…
Hoo…
