Imagine this: classic Kelly Clarkson song lyrics translated into Mongolian and then translated back into English through the power of Google Translate. Now, take that and imagine no further because it has officially been done. The results are better than I think anyone could have ever hoped for. Clarkson got the chance to sing a poorly translated version of her own top hit “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” or otherwise translated to “Too Strong (If you Don’t Kill it)”. Where the original lyrics were “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger/ Stand a little taller/ Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone” it ended up being translated back to “If you don’t kill it then it’s too strong/ Remain in a small place/ My dreaming by myself is not my fault”.
Even though this wonky translation is way over-the-top ridiculous, Kelly managed to knock the badly translated songs out of the park. We can’t blame the songbird for not being able to contain her giggles!
Fallon kept the surprises coming when he teamed up with Clarkson for Sonny and Cher’s famous duet, “I Got You Babe” or loosely translated to Mongolian and back as “I Have Your Child”. They both tried to keep a straight face as they belted such lyrics as: “All right therefore truth unknown/ You have me and I am your child”— eh, not exactly romantic.
