Enjoy watching country music duo High Valley (Brad and Curtis Rempel) take "Single Man" totally bluegrass!

Growing up in rural Canada, the brothers of High Valley (Brad and Curtis Rempel) had three records in their collection: Buck Owens, the Everly Brothers and Ricky Skaggs. As rising country stars, they can now claim the latter as executive producer on the brand new bluegrass version of their “Single Man” song. The duo, whose country blend has consistently nodded to their bluegrass roots, pulled together some of the format’s most prominent musicians on the new release.

“Single Man” Goes Bluegrass

“We grew up surrounded by bluegrass music,” Brad shared with The Bluegrass Situation. “Ricky Skaggs was our hero thanks to a few records our parents introduced to us. When our town finally got a radio station, I spent a few years as a DJ hosting a bluegrass hour. Recently, Curtis and I called up a few of our friends and some of Nashville’s finest bluegrass pickers to turn them loose and let them show off! Recording this bluegrass version of ‘Single Man’ was easily the most natural moment we’ve ever had in the studio. When it came time to work on the mix and make sure everything was produced properly, it was so great to have Ricky Skaggs offer his help as the executive producer on this track. Talk about a full circle moment!”

“Single Man” Lyrics

Well, single man
Goes wild and crazy on a Tuesday night
Stays out till 2 a.m. and don’t think twice
Burns through money and his pick-up lines

And a single man
Is always down to grab a two-for-one
Makes a plan, ain’t gotta ask no one
He can wake up anywhere he wants

But I don’t know a single man
Who’d pick a keg of whisky over your kiss
Take a neon night over a night like this
Stay young forever over growing old with you

I don’t know a single man
That ain’t out looking for what I’ve got
That wouldn’t die to be where I am
Nah, I don’t know, no, I don’t know a single man

Yeah, a single man
Don’t get to wake up looking at your smile
Ain’t late to work from kissing you goodbye
Don’t get to hold you tight every single night

Girl, I don’t know a single man
Who’d pick a keg of whisky over your kiss
Take a neon night over a night like this
Stay young forever over growing old with you

I don’t know a single man
That ain’t out looking for what I’ve got
That wouldn’t die to be where I am
Nah, I don’t know, no, I don’t know a single man

Every single time you walk in a room
Every single guy’s got their eyes on you

Girl, I don’t know a single man
Who’d pick a keg of whisky over your kiss
Take a neon night over a night like this
Stay young forever over growing old with you

I don’t know a single man
That ain’t out looking for what I’ve got
That wouldn’t die to be where I am
Nah, I don’t know, no, I don’t know a single man
That ain’t out looking for what I’ve got
That wouldn’t die to be where I am
Nah, I don’t know, no, I don’t know a single man

Nah, I don’t know a single man
No, I don’t know a single man
