On Saturday night, the Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort clubhouse went up in flames. According to News 4 San Antonio, the fire stared in the attic and completely destroyed the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
“It’s early too say what happened,” Boerne Fire Chief Doug Meckel shared. “The attic was fully involved when the first crew arrived (just before 7 p.m.) They were evacuating the people who were inside.”
One of the Boerne, Texas property’s owners is country music legend George Strait, who had recently performed at the resort, raising $1.4 million for David Feherty’s Troops First Foundation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
“We are so sorry, in so many ways, to report again that a fire started in our Clubhouse on the evening of November 4, 2017. Everyone is safe. The building is a total loss.
Given the Clubhouse serves so many different purposes essential to our member and guest experiences, Tapatio Springs Hill County Resort and The Club is closed indefinitely,” the resort shared via its official Facebook page.
The Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort sits on 220 acres and recently underwent $1.5M in renovations. Our thoughts go out to those impacted by this devastating fire and hope to see the resort reopen in the near future.
Fans can next catch George Strait performing at the upcoming Country Rising: Nashville Gives for Hurricane Relief benefit concert, which is set to take place in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 12th. The event will help raise money for those affected by 2017’s destructive hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria. The storms collectively destroyed areas of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and numerous Caribbean islands.
The benefit concert will contribute to the Country Rising Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. It was established to lend a hand to charitable organizations that help the victims of the hurricanes. “In the course of rebuilding lives disrupted by these devastating storms, there are immediate needs and there also will be long-term needs. This fund will strategically support both as they emerge,” a press release stated.
