What’s better than listening to your favorite artist sing? How about listening to your favorite artists sing a cover of another one of your favorite artists? This year is ending with a bang and beginning with an even bigger explosion as genres cross over and song covers you never knew you needed are being released left and right, and it is all thanks to Danielle Bradbery. It is safe to say that 2018 was a great year for music and Danielle couldn’t agree more. She recently announced that she is releasing a total of five of her favorite jams of the year and debuting them in her recent project, Yours Truly: 2018.
Her first cover, an incredible rendition of Ariana’s Grande’s “God is a Woman” has already been released. The cover took place in a tasteful studio where she was accompanied by a cellist, pianists, and guitarist, giving her version of the song an elegant sound and interpretation. Next up is a cover of Kacey Musgrave’s “Slow Burn”, releasing on Friday (Dec. 28). The following week she will release a cover of Post Malone’s “Psycho” on January 4th. She has yet to release the title of the other two tracks, but the press swears that they are “massive hits”. So we are just getting started!
Bradberry tells Billboard, “I grew up listening to all kinds of music from country to R&B and hip-hop, even Hispanic music with my mom’s side of the family, and all of those influences have impacted my own art. Incredible music was released across all genres this year, so I wanted to mark this moment in time with my own versions of some of my favorites. I can’t wait for everyone to hear my take on these songs.”
2018 was quite the year for Danielle as she released a music video for her powerful hit single, “Worth It” along with her irresistible duet with Thomas Rhett on “Goodbye Summer”. It looks like she plans to make 2019 even better as she kicks off her Live Forever Tour in Duluth, Georgia on January 10th, continuing through March 8th with her last performance in Texas.
Christmas and the holidays may be over, but this cover project is the gift that keeps on giving. 2019 doesn’t seem so bad anymore, does it? This song project and tour has me saying “bring it on, 2019.”
“God Is A Woman” Lyrics
You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you
My one, when all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
And I, I feel it after midnight
A feelin’ that you can’t fight
My one, it lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman
I don’t wanna waste no time, yuh
You ain’t got a one-track mind, yuh
Have it any way you like, yuh
And I can tell that you know I know how I want it
Ain’t nobody else can relate
Boy, I like that you ain’t afraid
Baby, lay me down and let’s pray
I’m tellin’ you the way I like it, how I want it
And I can be all the things you told me not to be
(Yuh)
When you try to come for me, I keep on flourishing
(Yuh)
And he see the universe when I’m the company
It’s all in me
You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you
My one, when all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
And I, I feel it after midnight
A feelin’ that you can’t fight
My one, it lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman
I’ll tell you all the things you should know
So, baby, take my hand, save your soul
We can make it last, take it slow, hmm
And I can tell that you know I know how I want it, yuh
But you different from the rest
And boy, if you confess, you might get blessed
See if you deserve what comes next
I’m tellin’ you the way I like it, how I want it
And I can be all the things you told me not to be
(Yuh)
When you try to come for me, I keep on flourishing
(Yuh)
And he see the universe when I’m the company
It’s all in me
You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you
My one, when all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
And I, I feel it after midnight
A feelin’ that you can’t fight
My one, it lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
(God is a woman, yeah)
My one
(One)
When all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
You’ll believe God
(God is a woman)
Oh, yeah
(God is a woman, yeah)
(One)
It lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman
