Country music superstar Blake Shelton's bright idea will make a lot of kids in Tishomingo happy when the weather heats up! More here.

Thanks to country music star Blake Shelton and Ryman Hospitality Properties, the town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma is $50,000 richer! The funds will go towards making improvements to the local Pennington Park, including upgrading the children’s splash pad and adding in more water features like water slides.

“It’s always fun to play your hometown and now that we have Ole Red in Tishomingo, we can pop up and play anytime,” shared with the media Blake after performing two benefit shows at his Ole Red Tishomingo location. “We played a lot of music, had fun and raised money for Pennington Park. Now that’s a good time!”

According to local news outlet KTEN, the entertainer got the idea of improving Pennington Park’s water-based activities after seeing a park in Cincinnati, Ohio with a similar layout.

“I’m kind of in a position where I’ve got the easy part,” he told the outlet. “I just say, ‘Hey I’m gonna do do these two shows and I’ll raise the money… then you city people figure out how to do this!”

As fans can recall, Blake’s restaurant and live music venue opened its doors in Tishomingo last September. Ole Red’s 26,000-square-foot Nashville location is expected to open this year in the heart of Nashville’s famed Lower Broadway. The venue includes a two-story bar and restaurant, retail area, performance space, dance floor, private event space, and a 6,000-square-foot rooftop with an indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant featuring panoramic views of the area.
