Amy Grant's father, Dr. Burton Grant, has passed away after a long illness. Our hearts go out to the extended family as they mourn their loss.

Singer-songwriter Amy Grant‘s father, Dr. Burton Grant, passed away on Saturday, June 30th at the age of 86-years-old. The star took to social media to share the sad news with her fans along with a snapshot of her dad.

“Walking our dad home has been a ten year journey, taking our family places we never imagined. We are all closer because of it. I’m so grateful for my dad,” Amy expressed while also adding a touching family story. “My grandfather passed away when my dad was a teenager. When my dad decided to become a doctor it was his mother, my grandmother, who paid his way through school. Years after my grandmother passed, I found his graduation program in a box of her things with a note from my dad. It said, ‘Mother, I hope I will serve mankind in such a way as to justify your faith in me. Love, Burton’

Well done, Dad.”

We wish Amy and the entire Grant family comfort during this difficult time. Amy is the youngest of four sisters and is married to fellow musician Vince Gill. The couple has one daughter together, 17-year-old Corrina Grant Gill. Amy also has three adult children, Matt, Millie, and Sarah, from her previous marriage to Christian musician Gary Chapman.

“I Will Remember You” Lyrics

I will be walking one day
Down a street far away
And see a face in the crowd and smile
Knowing how you made me laugh
Hearing sweet echoes of you from the past
I will remember you.
Look in my eyes while you’re near
Tell me what’s happening here
See that I don’t want to say good-bye
Our love is frozen in time
I’ll be your champion and you will be mine
I will remember
I will remember you.
Later on
When this fire is an ember
Later on
When the night’s not so tender
Given time
Though it’s hard to remember darlin’
I will be holding
I’ll still be holding to you
So many years come and gone
And yet the memory is strong
One word we never could learn
Good-bye
True love is frozen in time
I’ll be your champion and you’ll be mine
I will remember you
So please remember
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you
