Country music entertainer Alan Jackson is currently fighting off a respiratory infection. The illness forced the icon to cancel a two tour dates and skip Wednesday night’s ACM Honors event. The Georgia native’s eldest daughter, Mattie, accepted the ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award on his behalf.
“Just want to thank everybody at the ACMs for honoring me with Cliffie Stone Award last night at the Ryman. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to personally accept it,” Jackson shared on Instagram, also thanking his daughter and his fellow country artists for recognizing him during the event. “And most of all, thank you to my fans for their prayers and well wishes as I continue to recover from a respiratory infection.”
Although Jackson was unable to attend, the star and his music were well represented. ACM Honors co-hosts Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi sang Jackson’s song “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” and Chris Stapleton took on “Here in the Real World.”
Best wishes to Alan as he recovers! The star has only four remaining tour dates let for the year, hopefully he will be back to full health soon!

“Here in the Real World” Lyrics
Cowboys don’t cry, and heroes don’t die
Good always wins, again and again
And love is a sweet dream that always comes true
Oh, if life were like the movies, I’d never be blue
But here in the real world
It’s not that easy at all
‘Cause when hearts get broken
It’s real tears that fall
And darlin’ it’s sad but true
But the one thing I’ve learned from you
Is how the boy don’t always get the girl
Here in the real world
I gave you my love, but that wasn’t enough
To hold your heart, when times got rough
And tonight on that silver screen
It’ll end like it should
Two lovers will make it through
Like I hoped we would
But here in the real world
It’s not that easy at all
‘Cause when hearts get broken
It’s real tears that fall
And darlin’ it’s sad but true
But the one thing I’ve learned from you
Is how the boy don’t always get the girl
Here in the real world
No, the boy don’t always get the girl
Here in the real world
