It has been five years since the Canadian-born country music singer Shania Twain had to cancel a string of shows due to vocal dysphonia, and now she is ready to reveal the full extent of what she was going through at the time.
It seems Twain was also suffering from Lyme disease, which is a bacteria that’s transmitted through the bites of infected deer ticks, which can be about the size of poppy seeds. Twain did not say where she may have contracted the disease, but she did comment on the extensive therapy she had to go through to get back into performance shape.
“I learned a lot about myself, and my voice, both because I’d been having a lot of problems with my voice prior and because this was a real plunge into the unknown,” Twain shared with the Los Angeles Times.
Shania Twain’s next release seems to sum up exactly where she is mentally and physically these days, the song is titled “Life’s About to Get Good” and she debuted the tune at last weekend’s Stagecoach Music Festival.

When writing “Life’s About to Get Good,” Shania explains, “I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song.” The songwriter recognized that with all of the negative in life also comes the positive. “You can¹t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.”
The first single from the upcoming album, “Life’s About To Get Good,” will hit country radio in June and the entire album will be released in September of this year. Details about the album, including title and track listing, have not been released.
While at Stagecoach, she also thrilled fans with “Party for Two” featuring Nick Jonas and the 1990’s classic “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
This highly-anticipated album will be Twain’s first release of original music in over 15 years! Are YOU ready?!
