Country music maven Sara Evans‘ brand new music video for her latest single, “Marquee Sign,” is definitely spine-tingling.
While the Missouri native is perched at a small-town bar, she observes the budding of several youthful romances. No fairy tale stories here though, the male romantic partners all have something big to hide— from serious vices to surprising confessions. The singer warns the enchanted young women not to be fooled by the charade as she belts out the song’s lyrics in front of a vintage style movie theater.

“Marquee Sign” serves as the first single off of her latest album, Words, which dropped on July 21st. The 14-song collection features fourteen separate female songwriters, including Ashley Monroe, Caitlyn Smith, Hillary Lindsey, Hillary Scott, Liz Hengber, Sonya Isaacs and more. Listen closely, the track also touts background vocals from her 14-year-old daughter Olivia.
“I think we all agreed that ‘Marquee Sign’ was a perfect blend of everything about what this album represents and who I am now as an artist and a writer,” Evans shared with Rolling Stone Country. “So we thought it was the perfect first single. The first single is always so hard to choose because you’re giving everybody the first impression, and you want them to instantly be in love.”
