Show Me State native Chris Janson has been fighting to make a career out of country music since 2009. The 30-year-old from Perryville, Missouri, recently emerged as a country music star in late 2015 when he released his hit album “Buy Me a Boat.” The album leads off with the upbeat title song, which quickly received national attention when it aired on the well-known country radio program “The Bobby Bones Show.” Although “Buy Me a Boat” is Janson’s most popular song and earned him a deal with Warner Bros., a slower song off the album, “Holdin’ Her,” has made Janson more appealing to his audience because of the song’s honesty. The opening lyrics talk about Janson’s life of drunkenness and regrets before he met his wife, Kelly Lynn, who positively influenced his music as well as his life.

The song turns into a love story that describes how Janson’s life changed when he fell in love with Kelly Lynn. When asked about the song, Janson replied, “It’s an absolute true story, from start to finish. It’s the story of the things that I love most…my wife and my kids and my journey in life. If anyone wants a real look inside my life, here it is.” The song makes it apparent that Janson puts his family first in is life. In fact, Janson has received praise for his “Holdin’ Her” music video, which features his wife and all four of his kids, including two from Kelly Lynn’s previous marriage, whom Janson refuses to call his stepchildren and instead refers to them as his “bonus kids.” He explains it by saying, “I married my best friend, I got bonus kids when I got married, and I got two more kids that God blessed us with.”
