Country music legend Willie Nelson gives audiences a glimpse into the recording studio in his new music video for “Heaven Is Closed.” The song comes from his studio album titled Last Man Standing and discusses the tough topics of aging and loss. Nelson also provides us with the wisdom that he has accumulated throughout his career and his 85 years on this earth.
The lyrics also supply listeners with Nelson’s classic humor and stubbornness. It was written alongside Buddy Cannon and the Texas native finds peace as “Heaven Is Closed” questions an eternity in heaven and hell. Instead of coming to a conclusion about where our souls end up, Nelson offers the idea that the two destinations are similar.
He sings, “Could it be that hell is heaven and heaven is hell and each one are both the same thing?”
