In 1990, Keith Urban was declared the winner of Australia’s talent search program Star Maker after thrilling the Tamworth Country Music Festival audience with a performance of his original song “I Never Work on a Sunday.” The video below also includes the future superstar receiving the award and his acceptance speech.
During this same year, Urban signed with EMI in Australia and released his self-titled debut studio album. The record was first released only in Australia, was eventually released worldwide in 2005 by EMI Music. This album included four singles, “Only You,” “Arms of Mary,” “The River,” and “I Never Work on a Sunday.”
