Country music group Little Big Town got the chance to pay tribute to musical icon Cher during the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors event by performing a medley of some of her biggest hits—“Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves,” “I Found Someone,” and “Baby Don’t Go.”
Enjoy their performance below!
While the quartet rocked some seriously awesome fashion statements onstage, when they finally got to meet Cher in person— they were in their comfy clothes!
We REALLY wanted to meet @cher last night since we had the honor of singing for her. It seemed it was never gonna happen. Well, it finally did- at the airport, after we were in our pj’s. 😂 She was so down to earth and lovely. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day. @kencen pic.twitter.com/4OfxccUpig

“Baby Don’t Go” was written by Sonny Bono and was first released by Sonny & Cher in 1964. After the duo’s breakthrough success with “I Got You Babe,” the track was re-released in 1965 and became a top ten hit in the United States.

“Baby Don’t Go” Lyrics
Baby don’t go
Pretty baby please don’t go
I never had a mother
I hardly knew my dad
I’ve been in town for eighteen years
You’re the only boy I’ve had
I can’t stay
Maybe I’ll be back some day
Baby don’t go
Pretty baby please don’t go
I love you so
Pretty baby please don’t go
I never had no money
I bought at the second hand store
The way this old town laughs at me
I just can’t take it no more
I can’t stay
I’m gonna be a lady some day
Baby don’t go
Pretty baby please don’t go
I love you so
Pretty baby please don’t go
When I get to the city
My tears will all be dry
My eyes will look so pretty
No one’s gonna know I cried
Yes I’m goin’ away
Maybe I’ll be back some day
Baby don’t go
Maybe I’ll be back some day
Baby don’t go
Maybe I’ll be back some day
