In June of 1997, Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes both made the Billboard Hot 100 with their rendition of How Do I Live. Both the Rimes and the Yearwood versions debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 on the week ending June 14, 1997. Rimes’ version was noted for its extreme longevity, spending a record-breaking 69 weeks on the chart, with 62 of those weeks being in the top 40, 32 weeks on the top ten and 25 in the top five (all records at the time). The LeAnn Rimes version of the song was considered more Pop music focused.
This is a rare case where two artist reached the country music charts at the same time with performance of the same song. Watch the LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood videos for this iconic song and check out the lyrics and more details about Trisha’s version below.
LeAnn Rimes How Do I Live Music Video
Trisha Yearwood’s version of the song was featured in the film Con Air starring Nicolas Cage and was released on May 27, 1997. The producers of the film preferred Trisha Yearwood’s more country version of the song for the move track. Trisha’s version succeeded the most on country radio. Although Yearwood’s version was moving quickly up the pop charts, getting as high as number 23, MCA refused to issue any more copies of Trisha’s single for fear of cannibalizing album sales. As a result, the limited press run sold out quickly, and Trisha’s single was off the Hot 100 after 12 weeks. Trisha’s country radio play of the song made her version a much bigger country music success, climbing all the way to number 2 for one week on the Country Music chart.

Trisha Yearwood How Do I Live (Live at Farm Aid)
How Do I Live is certainly one of the classic “break-up” tunes of all time and was written by Diane Warren for the movie.
How Do I Live Lyrics
How do I, get through a night without you
If I had to live without you
What kind of life would that be
Oh, I, I need you in my arms, need you to hold
You’re my world, my heart, my soul and if you ever leave
Baby you would take away everything good in my life
And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you if you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive
How do I, how do I, oh, how do I live
Without you, there’d be no sun in my sky
There would be no love in my life
There’d be no world left for me
And I, baby, I don’t know what I would do
I’d be lost if I lost you, if you ever leave
Baby, you would take away everything real in my life
And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you if you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live
Please, tell me, baby
How do I go on if you ever leave
Baby you would take away everything, I need you with me
Baby, don’t you know that you’re everything good in my life
And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you if you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live
How do I live without you
How do I live without you, baby
(How do I live, how do I live)
How do I live? (How do I Live)
(How do I live)
