The Trace Adkins Better Off song was released in 2020 and is very timely as the song makes a very good case for staying in. Trace is excited to be recording new music. To create and collaborate and continually feel the excitement that comes after whipping up a new song out of thin air and laying it down to tape is what Trace says he still craves. The Louisiana native has stated, “It’s an adrenaline rush and I love it. There’s nothing else like it. That is still my favorite thing to do in this business. Go into the studio with just some lyrics and a melody and then let the finest musicians in the world help take it and turn it into something magical. It liberates me. I just dig it!”
Parts of the video were shot from the top of a roof, looking back towards the Nashville skyline the night the tornado came through Nashville. Trace stated, “It’s a bit surreal to think they touched down a few hours later, just a few blocks from where we were”. Mike Stryker directed the music video.

Trace Adkins Better Off was written by country songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Corey Crowder and Liz Rose.
Everybody’s goin’ out tonight
But I got somethin’ else on my mind and a
Long list of reasons why
We’re better off stayin’ in
I’ve been missin’ you all week
A little one on one that’s what I need
A little me and you party yeah we’re better off if we
Put the lock on the door
Drop the needle on the record
Kick your shoes on the floor
Turn this night on to eleven but
Those thoughts in your head and
Those pillows on your bed and
That dress these lights
They’re all better off
They’re all better off
I love that lipstick on your lips
But if it fades with every kiss then
Let me tell it like it is
It’s better off better off
Put the lock on the door
Drop the needle on the record
Kick your shoes on the floor
Turn this night on to eleven but
Those thoughts in your head and
Those pillows on your bed and
That dress these lights
They’re all better off
Yeah better off
Everybody’s goin’ out tonight
But I’ve got seomthin’ else on my mind
Put the lock on the door
Drop the needle on the record
Kick your shoes on the floor
Turn this night on to eleven
Those thoughts in your head and
Those pillows on your bed and
That dress these lights
They’re all better off
They’re all better off
Yeah that dress these lights
They’re all better off
