Country star Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins attended Sunday night’s iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Lauren, who is due with a baby girl in August, looked impeccable in a black off-the-shoulder mini dress. Look at that cute baby bump!
This was their first red carpet appearance since announcing their big pregnancy and adoption news, the couple absolutely glowed while they held hands and often embraced. Of course, Thomas also took to Instagram to show off his lovely wife. That’s a proud dad-to-be right there!
Rhett recently opened up about the complex process of international adoption with Rare Country, “You find out a lot about yourself when you’re over there and you and your wife are staying in a hotel room for a month and a half, and you wake up and you think you’re going to get some news and you don’t get it. Or you don’t think you’re going to get some news and you do get it.”
Though adopting a child presents a lot of hurdles, Thomas understands that the level of scrutiny is necessary.
“In the end, all of it is for a good thing. You just have to realize you’re adopting a human being and so you know that those people that are going to let her into your care, they want to know that you really are a stand-up person and that you can support this person. So, I understand how tough they make it for you to see how bad you really want it. It is very hard,” Thomas explained.
