Critics are applauding Thomas Rhett for his new Life Changes album that is soaring to the top of the charts. According to Billboard, Rhett “held nothing back” when it came to creating this project. The fans agree, as they have torn the album from the shelves right after its debut.
The ACM Awards Male Vocalist of the Year gave fans a glimpse into his personal life with his new album. Every song tells a true story, many about his relationship with wife Lauren, or how his life hasn’t gone as planned with the welcoming of two daughters under the age of two. However, he is embracing every life change and using his experiences to make a successful album.
In fact, Life Changes hit No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart after its debut. It became the first country release to reach the top spot in 2017. After selling more than 123,000 units, the much-anticipated album is living up to fans’ expectations. Critics are also complimenting Rhett as an artist “with no boundaries,” and Rolling Stone says Rhett has a “detailed style of songwriting.” Bobby Bones of the Bobby Bones Show even sent Rhett some new shoes for his achievement!
Other critics are buzzing about Thomas Rhett’s musical diversity. Associated Press said, “It’s a testament to Thomas Rhett’s confidence that he can fill a country album full of songs with references to other genres, including doo-wop “Grease”-style musicals, Springsteen heartland rock, EDM and ’80s New Wave.” Billboard added, “If you’ve paid any attention to Thomas Rhett’s music since he released his first single “Something To Do With My Hands” in 2012, you are fully aware that he is a man of no boundaries. While the 27-year-old singer remains country at his core, he’s infused pop, R&B and even a sprinkle of hip-hop into his material…”
Thomas Rhett has the ability to cross genre lines whenever he feels like it. In “Leave Right Now,” he experiments with techno dance-style music popularized by The Chainsmokers. He also seems to reflect back to Buddy Holly and the Crickets with ‘Sweetheart.’ Thomas Rhett and his songwriting father, Rhett Akins, have a duet on the album, ‘Drink a Little Beer,’ which flashes back to 70s and 80s country music.
Life Changes is Rhett’s third album as well as the biggest and boldest-sounding record of his career. With a diverse mix of songs, he stretches his sound and style to new limits. The project quickly received attention, earning Thomas Rhett his eighth career No. 1 hit as well as his fastest rising single yet, “Unforgettable.” He is currently nominated for three CMA Awards including Male Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year for his No. 1 Gold-certified lead track “Craving You,” featuring Maren Morris. Thomas Rhett is currently on his 2017 HOME TEAM TOUR with energetic performances and a commanding stage presence.
