Last May, country music star Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, welcomed their daughter, Willa Gray, home from Uganda. In honor of Willa’s homecoming, Lauren took to Instagram and shared the following heartfelt message:
“Our sweet Ugandan sunshine came home to America a year ago today😭. This pic was us in Uganda in the thick of our adoption, trying to bring our baby home. Cannot imagine a life without my baby girl who made me a mama💗💗 I wish I could still swaddle you and hold you just like this😩💗 So thankful that Jesus gave me you, Willa Gray. Being your mama will forever be the greatest thing I ever get to do. I love you to the moon and stars cutie pie😘😘😘”
Oh, man. Her words just hit you in the emotions. The pair started the international adoption process in 2016 shortly after Lauren met Willa for the first time during a visit to Africa with 147 Million Orphans. The charitable organization provides food, water, medicine, shelter, and education to vulnerable children in the name of Jesus Christ. While slogging through the complicated adoption maze, the couple learned that Lauren was pregnant. The couple then welcomed their second daughter, Ada James, in August.
On Sunday, Lauren enjoyed a relaxing pool day with Willa Gray and Ada James for Mother’s Day. As expected, Thomas shared a sweet message to his loving wife for the occasion, “Happy Mother’s Day honey! You are the strongest, most patient, loving, caring, beautiful woman that I know. Being parents is hard but being a mom is EXTREMELY hard and most days you do it with ease💯 I love you more than you could ever know! Huge shoutout to all the moms across the world! Y’all are amazing!”
Goodness. Could this family get any cuter?! Be sure to catch Thomas Rhett on tour now!
