Country music star Thomas Rhett is currently touring on Kenny Chesney‘s Trip Around the Sun Tour— and he is absolutely loving it! Besides playing huge venues for thousands of fans, the Georgia native is enjoying the welcoming atmosphere the superstar has created out on the road. This family-oriented environment is especially appreciated since Rhett has his young family tagging along with him!
Since last May, Rhett and wife Lauren have welcomed daughters Willa Gray and Ada James into their family. Fortunately, Chesney has helped make taking children on the road an easy transition. As they tour together, Chesney invites all family members to his backstage area, opening up the doors to Rhett and all of his loved ones as well.
“He sets up this like gigantic space next to his bus where he has a tiki bar and food trucks and music playing,” Rhett explained to Sounds Like Nashville. “And literally like before the show and after the show, I could’ve walked up to Kenny and said, ‘Hey dude I have 30 family members here. Is that cool?’ He’d be like, ‘Yeah! Come on.'”
Chesney certainly brings a more personal aspect to what is usually strictly business with those working alongside him on the tour. Rhett cannot wait to bring his girls to each show and he is excited about getting closer with the entire tour crew.
“He kind of treats everybody like you’re their family and I think that’s what creates such a unique and fun atmosphere with Kenny backstage,” Rhett added. “And that’s why so many people want to tour with him, just from the camaraderie that you get from that tour and then you also get to watch somebody play two hours of nothing but the most gigantic songs in the history of country music.”
