When country star Thomas Rhett and his beautiful wife, Lauren, welcomed two adorable baby girls into their family, they knew their family dynamic would be changing drastically. Last May, the couple welcomed Willa Gray home from Uganda. Then, in August, Lauren gave birth to the pair’s first biological child, Ada James. In a recent interview with the media, the “Die A Happy Man” singer revealed the changes have not been easy, but his daughters are well worth the extra effort!
“We are living unprepared, that’s for sure. When you step into immediately having a 16-month-old, I think I know how to deal with a two-year-old pretty accurately now. An infant is a whole different story, because when they cry, you don’t fully know why. I have not been a very good ‘make you stop crying’ kind of dad. It’s been a huge adjustment, but we’re having a blast. We’re very blessed to have two pretty girls,” Thomas Rhett said.
Life is a little bit easier because the two girls get along so well. Thomas Rhett is confident Willa Gray and Ada James will be best buds in the future.
“Willa came to the hospital and started putting her hands all over Ada. It was a bunch of, ‘Be gentle, be gentle, be gentle.’ It’s amazing because Willa actually asks to hold Ada. She’ll sit there on the couch and do like this and rock her. It’s pretty amazing. I think they’re so close in age that they’re going to be really close as they got older. It’s pretty insane. With all the emotions of adopting a child and wondering when the process is going to be over and then finally getting her home, and literally less than four months later bringing a newborn into the world, it was somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. It’s pretty amazing” Rhett continued.
The 28-year-old singer admits that balancing his career and his family can be a struggle. Also, making sure he’s spending quality time with each of his girls is extremely important. He doesn’t seem to be having any problems!
“You just have to be aware of it,” Thomas Rhett revealed. “If I’ve been holding Ada for an hour, it might be time to pass her off to Lauren and spend some intentional time with Willa Gray. It’s easy to give all your time to an infant because they can’t physically do anything on their own. Willa can watch a move or do whatever, but I’ve had to make sure I spend that hardcore intentional time with Willa whether it’s taking her to the park to get ice cream or whatever it is, just to show her that it is a completely equal balance.”
There’s no doubt Willa and Ada will both grow-up to love their dad’s music. However, they are both a bit too young at the moment. Apparently the girls still prefer upbeat dance music!
“You can tell she loves music, because anytime there’s a drum beat, she’s dancing and she’s spinng around in circles. Lately, I’ve been pretty impressed. We’ll be riding in the car. ‘Unforgettable’ will come on the radio and she’ll go, ‘Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.’ I think she knows the sound of my voice enough, even when she hears it in a song, she can pick out that’s a song that I sing,” Rhett said.
She loves the song, ‘Leave Right Now.’ It’s probably because it has such an intense beat. Bruno Mars is her favorite. She loves dance music in general. I think that’s her favorite from the record.”

“Leave Right Now” Lyrics
Same streets, same party
Drowning their problems in Bacardi
Same people still talking
Oh, I’m so over it, I’m sorry
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Ditch all your friends, the guy you came with
Get to know you where it ain’t so loud
Just you and me alone on some old moonlit road
But the two of us could disappear
Just say the word and get out of here
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Meet me out back if you like how that sounds
You and me could
You and me could
We could leave right now
You and me could
If you like how that sounds
You and me could
If not, I get it
That smile on your face, yeah, it says different
One kiss, could just try it
‘Cause you never know, you just might like it
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Ditch all your friends, the guy you came with
Get to know you where it ain’t so loud
Just you and me alone on some old moonlit road
But the two of us could disappear
Just say the word and get out of here
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Meet me out back if you like how that sounds
You and me could
You and me could
We could leave right now
You and me could
If you like how that sounds
You and me could
Oh, baby, you and me could
Oh, baby, you and me could
Same streets, same party
Same people still talking
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Ditch all your friends, the guy you came with
Get to know you where it ain’t so loud
Just you and me alone on some old moonlit road
But the two of us could disappear
Just say the word and get out of here
Baby, you and me could leave right now
Meet me out back if you like how that sounds
