Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren welcome Willa Gray
After much anticipation, country music star Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins have welcomed home their daughter, 18-month-old Willa Gray Atkins. And she is cute as can be!
Willa Gray, who was adopted from Uganda, has settled in quite nicely with the Akins clan. Between the constant attention and showerings of love, she is living the life of luxury. The original plan upon Willa’s arrival was to take things slow and allow her to settle in, but she has had no problem jumping right into her new environment. The bonding moments, the gifts, and the new digs… this little girl is soaking it all in! Willa’s first day home was full of activity and discovery.
“She constantly wants to see something new,” Thomas Rhett mentioned in an interview with People. “Willa has never seen dogs before and we have two big ones… it’s been hilarious watching her try to pet them.”
This past weekend was extra special for Lauren, who celebrated her first ever Mother’s Day with her new baby girl. What makes it even more awesome is that her first biological daughter is on the way in August as well! The soon-to-be mommy of two little ladies had all she could have ever asked for on Mother’s Day.
Thomas is currently on break from his Home Team tour, telling PEOPLE, “We’ve been tag-teaming — the dogs, cooking, cleaning— It’s the craziest thing we’ve ever experienced!”
With the family rapidly expanding, the next couple of years will certainly be a whirlwind for Thomas and Lauren! And while the timing of the adoption and pregnancy may have come as a surprise to the young couple, it certainly was a happy and welcome twist of fate.
We’re so excited for this budding family and we can’t wait to see what will come next for these three – soon to be four!
