Singer-songwriter Brandy Clark has been leaving her imprint on country music for much longer than you think. Get to know her here...
Singer-songwriter Brandy Clark, 43, is our new favorite power woman of country music. The “Stripes” singer is totally unapologetic about being herself— making her confidence totally shine through her music.
The Washington native has had a few hit singles herself, but not many people know that she actually has written for many successful recording artists as well. Some of Clark’s most successful songs that she has co-written include Miranda Lambert‘s “Mama’s Broken Heart,” The Band Perry‘s “Better Dig Two,” and Kacey Musgraves‘ “Follow Your Arrow.”
Down-to-Earth as ever, Brandy’s newest single “Girl Next Door” is an anthem for any girl who doesn’t fit the stereotypical “Barbie” role. Listen to the acoustic version of the tune below.
“Baby, if you want the girl next door, then go next door,” Brandy croons in the song. The song represents Brandy’s total take-me-as-I-am attitude. Overcoming many odds, Brandy has had a successful career while being openly gay and starting her career at an older age, both of which are uncommon in the country music industry.
Brandy’s music is always empowering, strong, and usually downright witty, too! Share this with others who love a fresh take on country music.
