Country music star Scotty McCreery‘s marriage to childhood sweetheart Gabi Dugal McCreery may be young, but he does have some great advice!
“Well, my advice for the wedding day and preparing for the wedding is just enjoy it,” McCreery recently shared with PopCulture.com. “And, don’t get too caught up in if the napkins are the perfect color or everything. You’re gonna get married regardless; that’s the main thing for the day. But then while you’re married, I will just say communication. That’s something I can always work on. Just ask Gabi.”
That’s right, don’t get too wrapped up in ‘the big day’— the biggest thing is becoming husband and wife. Communication is key in any healthy relationship and Scotty knows it’s something that always needs worked on.
“I’m still working on that, but communication and always keeping up with each other and making time for just one or the other,” he continued. “Just away from friends, away from your family, and just having that one-on-one time.”
Since Gabi was at work, she’s a pediatric nurse, and Scotty just came off of the road on their actual anniversary date in June, they celebrated the following week at North Carolina’s The Umstead hotel. The place is very close to their home and gave them a couple of days just to enjoy being together without having to travel very far.
“Time flies when you’re having fun! Can’t believe it’s already been 1 year of marriage to my smoking hot wife, @gabimccreery! 365 days in and I can truly say I have loved every second of it! She makes me want to be the best man I can be every day because I know that’s what she deserves. Here’s to many many many more years of marriage rooted in Christ. Happy Anniversary! I love you!,” the country star shared on Instagram to mark their first wedding anniversary.
