Country music maven Sara Evans has split from Sugar Hill Records, which she signed with less than a year ago and is now taking musical matters into her own hands. Evans has also joined forces with Sony Red Distribution to create a home for her next record and that home is appropriately called Born To Fly Records! Sara was signed with the Sony Music Nashville label until February 2016.
The “No Place That Far” singer follows in the footsteps of other country singers, such as Garth Brooks and Toby Keith, who also decided they did not want to give up control of their creative vision to music executives.
Starting their own labels also gives the stars the ability to help other up-and-coming artists accomplish their dreams by signing them to record deals (as seen with Toby Keith’s label Show Dog Records signing the band Waterloo Revival).
As for Evans, she couldn’t be more excited about her new venture, “I’m extremely excited to be launching this venture and I love that the label is ‘Born To Fly.’ I wrote that song about my own life, coming to Nashville and following my dreams,” she shares.
“It’s a dream come true to surround myself with my own team and truly embrace my entrepreneurial spirit, taking complete control of my career and brand is so freeing. I can’t wait to share this new project with everyone!” she continued.
The upcoming album will be Sara Evans’ 8th studio project and follows her 2014 release of Slow Me Down, which debuted at #2 on the Country Albums Chart and landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. No specifics of the new album have been announced but a press release posted to Evans’ website promises that “details about the new album will be revealed in the coming weeks.”
We can’t wait!
