Last night, Big Little Lies actress Nicole Kidman won her first-ever Emmy Award for ‘Best Actress in A Limited Series or Movie.’ Kidman’s BLL character Celeste was involved in a terribly abusive marriage and the actress used her acceptance speech to once again highlight domestic abuse and thank her real-life family—- husband Keith Urban and daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
“I have two little girls — Sunnie and Faith. And my darling Keith who I asked to help me pursue this artistic path. And they have sacrificed so much for it,” Kidman shared with the star-studded audience.
She also kidded that her golden Emmy trophy would be placed in her daughters’ room to make up for her absence while filming the HBO series.
“I just want my two little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, ‘Every time my mama didn’t put me to bed it’s because of this— I got something,’” she added with a chuckle.
Kidman continued, “I want them to know that sometimes when you’re acting, you get a chance to bring a bigger message and this is their contribution and your contribution. We shone a light on domestic abuse. It is a complicated, insidious disease. It exists, far more than we allow ourselves to know. It is filled with shame and secrecy and by you acknowledging me with this award it shines a light on it even more so thank you, thank you, I bow down to you.”

Besides Nicole’s big win, Big Little Lies scored the Outstanding Limited Series Emmy, Laura Dern won best supporting actress, and Alexander Skarsgard won best supporting actor.
As expected, Nicole and Keith looked picture perfect on the red carpet. The statuesque beauty wore a gorgeous red Calvin Klein gown with a full skirt while the country music superstar kept it classic in a black and white suit.
