The 2018 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees have been announced! Ronnie Dunn is set to receive the honor. More here!

Country music star Ronnie Dunn has been selected, alongside K.T. Oslin, Byron Hill, Wayne Kirkpatrick, and Joe Melson, to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame! The artist penned “Neon Moon,” ”Hard Workin’ Man,” ”Little Miss Honky Tonk,” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”— all big hits for Brooks & Dunn. The 48th Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala will be held on Sunday, October 28th, at Nashville’s Music City Center.

Also of note— country music entertainer Reba McEntire will be the very first recipient of the Career Maker Award, which recognizes her impact on the songwriting careers of numerous Hall of Fame members.

“[Reba] has supported songwriters throughout her career and was one of the first industry leaders to help the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame build our Hall of Fame Gallery at the Music City Center,” Pat Alger, chairman of the Hall of Fame’s board of directors, shared in a statement. “Her Hall of Fame career as an artist has in turn helped create so many other Hall of Fame careers for songwriters. Once she chooses your song and puts her inimitable stamp on it, you begin to understand why you became a songwriter in the first place. She is indisputably a great singer who continues to transform a diverse catalog of songs into works of art of the highest order. Simply put, when Reba sings your song, it’s not likely to get any better than that.”

Congrats to these country music artists on receiving the recognition they deserve! To celebrate, listen to “Neon Moon” below!

“Neon Moon” Lyrics

When the sun goes down
On my side of town
That lonesome feeling
Comes to my door
The whole world turns blue
There’s a rundown bar
Cross the railroad tracks
I’ve got a table for two
Way in the back
Where I sit alone
And think of losing you
I spend most every night
Beneath the light
Of this neon moon
Now if you lose your one and only
There’s always room here for
The lonely
To watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon
I think of two young lovers
Running wild and free
I close my eyes
And sometimes see
You in the shadows
Of this smoke-filled room
No telling how many tears
I’ve sat here and cried
Or how many lies
That I’ve lied
Telling my poor heart
She’ll come back someday
Oh, but I’ll be alright
As long as there’s light
From a neon moon
Oh, if you lose your one and only
There’s always room here for
The lonely
To watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon
The jukebox plays on
Drink by drink
And the words of every sad song
Seem to say what I think
And this hurt inside of me
Ain’t never gonna end
Oh, but I’ll be alright
As long as there’s light
From a neon moon
Oh, if you lose your one and only
There’s always room here for
The lonely
To watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon
Watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon
Oh, watch your broken dreams
Dance in and out of the beams
Of a neon moon
