O my goodness, there is going to be an updated version of the iconic sitcom Full House! Netflix released a video teaser on YouTube recently and the first thing you hear is a very familiar voice, the one and only Miranda Lambert.
Lambert’s 2010 hit “The House That Built Me” is playing in the background as the video shows the San Francisco bridge in that famous camera pan of the city that shows where the show’s family, the Tanners, live.
No actors are shown in the clip, but we hear their voices as they talk to the original characters of the old show. We hear DJ, Stephanie, and Danny Tanner, seemingly helping DJ move back in, alongside Kimmy Gibbler, Uncle Joey, and of course the hair-obsessed Uncle Jesse.
The first time around we remember that the patriarch Danny Tanner was left widowed with three daughters, and his best friend Joey and brother-in-law Jesse move in to help him raise the girls. The second time around, D.J. Tanner, Danny’s oldest daughter, is left widowed with three children of her own and her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy move in to help her out.
Lambert’s song “The House That Built Me” is so perfect for the new Netflix series and we can only hope it is the theme song for the re-vamped show. The lyrics seem to capture the theme that the show is building on, being “coming home”:
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it/ This brokenness inside me might start healing
Out here it’s like I’m someone else/ I thought that maybe I could find myself
While Lambert didn’t write the song, she had such a strong reaction to it that she had to cut it. She explained, “It was beautiful. I mean, I just started bawling from the second I heard it.”
Lambert’s childhood was marked by financial struggle and the song hit that spot in her and her family’s hearts.
Rick Lambert, Miranda Lambert‘s father, said ”It’s like the persons that wrote that song were channeling into our lives at that horrible but great time in our lives.”
