Miranda Lambert is a woman with two huge passions in life— country music and helping animals in need through her MuttNation Foundation efforts! In June, the country music star led the first-ever MuttNation March which attracted more than 1,000 participants to trek through Nashville as part of CMA Fest. The march was held to raise awareness for pet adoption and the associated MuttNation Foundation adoption drive helped 60 rescue pups find forever homes!
“[The MuttNation March] was awesome,” Miranda recently shared with Nash Country Daily. “It was our first year. We’re kinda in a revamp phase for MuttNation just ’cause it started with my mom and I and four other girls, and we kinda got a little too big for our britches. We don’t know what we’re doing at all [laughing]. Our main goals are to raise money for aiding shelters and aiding in rescues, either natural disasters or when dogs get misplaced in storms or when shelters need someone to come in and help move dogs out of there.”
Currently, Miranda is ‘mom’ to eighteen fur-babies!
“I have five horses, two mini-horses, seven dogs and four rescue kitties,” the singer-songwriter disclosed to radio morning show Ty, Kelly and Chuck. “18 total—it’s my new lucky number.”
Many of her pets accompany her while out on the road, but her dog Delilah has retired from touring. No worries though, she has good company— Miranda’s grandma.
“My grandma literally stole her though,” she told the radio hosts. “I was on the phone with my grandma this morning and she was telling me all about my dog, but it’s her dog now. She retired from the road so my grandma would keep her and she just never gave her back.”
