Country music band Midland’s popularity began to skyrocket after they released their hit single “Drinkin’ Problem.” The trio, comprised of Mark Wystrach (lead vocals), Cameron Duddy (bass guitar, background vocals), and Jess Carson (lead guitar, background vocals), recently announced exciting details regarding their debut album! On the Rocks features 13-tracks and will hit the shelves on September 22nd!
Outside of producing quality music, the three band members tout some other impressive skills— lead singer Mark Wystrach used to be an underwear model. Really. Enough about that, let’s get to Bruno Mars…
Cameron Duddy is also an award-winning music video director. In fact, he just won multiple awards at the MTV Video Music Awards for his directing skills. What video did Duddy direct to win the awards? None other than Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” video. Who would have guessed. So, how did this surprising partnership form?
“I met Bruno when I was in my early 20s,” Duddy shared. “My wife took his first publicity photos, and I met him then. He’s a very loyal person, so he kept me on his team and was kind of the first person to ever take a chance on me for directing — which is something that I’ve wanted to do my whole life, just like playing music.”
“So I’ve known Bruno for a long time and he’s a supporter of Midland and we’re all just kind of music fanatics,” Duddy added.

Fun-fact, this is not the only video Cameron Duddy has directed. In 2012, he directed Bruno’s “Lazy Song” and “Locked Out of Heaven” videos. Two years later, he helped to create the video for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.” Other artists Duddy has directed for over the years include Jennifer Lopez, Iggy Azalea, Brittney Spears, Kid Ink, and Fifth Harmony.

Duddy is clearly a talented man and even directed Midland’s music video for “Drinkin’ Problem.” Pretty dang cool.
