Country music star Maren Morris‘ hit single, “Girl” has undoubtedly struck a chord with listeners. The song, penned by the songstress alongside Sarah Aarons and Greg Kurstin, is No. 1 on country radio this week making it the first solo song by a woman to top the Billboard Country Airplay Chart since February 2018!
“The story behind my single, ‘Girl,’ started as something I was saying to another woman, like, ‘We don’t need to be competitive with each other,” Maren shares in a statement. “And then I kind of realized that I was talking to myself, like, ‘I don’t need to be so competitive with myself, I am enough.’ And it just became a really powerful concept after that point. I’m so excited it’s out.”
