It's really happening! Country music artist Luke Bryan will be a judge on the upcoming season of 'American Idol.' More here...

As reported by Variety, country music superstar Luke Bryan will be a judge on the 16th season of American Idol! The show will air on ABC and debut in March. So far, just Luke and award-winning pop star Katy Perry have been confirmed as judges and Ryan Seacrest will also return as host.

American Idol auditions kicked off in August and a third judge is expected to be announced soon. Musical icon Lionel Richie, who was rumored to be in talks to join the singing competition, appears to no longer be in the running.

The Georgia native’s last three albums debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Album charts. He has released five albums since 2007: I’ll Stay Me, Doin’ My Thing, tailgates & tanlines, Crash My Party, and Kill the Lights.

The rest of Luke Bryan’s year is already jam-packed. In late August, Bryan debuted his new single, “Light It Up,” which serves as the first single off a new album due out later this year. Fans can see Luke performing the single in concert during his Huntin’, Fishin’ And Lovin’ Every Day Tour through October 28th.
