Like Willie Nelson, Charley Pride and many others before them, Kris Kristofferson and Kenny Rogers are set to receive the Texas Medal of the Arts. The award honors Texan artists who fully embody the Texas spirit. Kris Kristofferson was born in Brownsville, Texas and Kenny Rogers was born in Houston, Texas.

Kristofferson will receive the ‘Multimedia Award,’ honoring his success as an actor, singer, and songwriter. Rogers is set to receive the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of his success as a crossover artist.

The ceremony will take place on February 22nd at the University of Texas campus in Austin. Other honorees include Scott Kelley, Yolanda Adams, Jamie Foxx, and Paul Mitchell.
