The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry Files for Divorce

Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry and her husband of almost four years, J.P. Arencibia, are splitting up. Learn more about the story here.

The Band Perry‘s Kimberly Perry is getting divorced from husband J.P. Arencibia, who formerly played baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay Rays. The couple has been married for almost four years, but recently decided to split due to irreconcilable differences.

On Friday, Perry, 34, filed for divorce from her husband and former MLB player, 32, who retired from the MLB in 2017. When asked for a comment on the situation, a representative for Perry confirmed the news and requested privacy for her at the time, according to People. She did acknowledge the end of her marriage via Instagram a few days later.

“Yes it’s true, my marriage has come to an end,” she wrote. “I know that beauty will come from these ashes and, as always, I want to thank you all for your love and support. I’ll be in touch soon.”

Perry and Arencibia first met in 2012 at the Florida Strawberry Festival. The baseball player was a fan of hers after watching some of the band’s music videos, so he talked to mutual connections and arranged to meet her backstage.

Arencibia said that, after seeing the Band Perry’s “If I Die Young Video,” he “had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future.” When they started dating later, Perry also noted that she felt “spiritually and emotionally” linked to him and had a strong bond. He proposed to Perry with a 3.3-carat ring in October 2013, and the two married in June 2014.

The wedding was held at Greenville’s Christ Chapel First Presbyterian Church, surrounded by family and friends. The wedding party included Perry’s brothers and bandmates, Neil and Reid, and Arencibia’s nieces. Others in attendance included Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.

The two are not very active on social media when it comes to their relationship, but Arencibia did wish his wife a happy birthday on Instagram last July. He called her “my everything” and said “I love you more than I’d ever be able to explain.”

We wish the best for these two as they head their separate ways.
