Nashville's Music City Walk of Fame will soon be getting a brand new star honoring pop-country artist Kenny Rogers! More details here.
Country music legend Kenny Rogers is set to be honored with a star on the Music City Walk of Fame on October 24th, just one day before his star-studded “All In For The Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration” kicks off at Bridgestone Arena. The farewell celebration will feature the final live performance together by Rogers and “Islands In The Stream” duet partner Dolly Parton. Other guests will include The Flaming Lips, Jamey Johnson, Elle King, Alison Krauss, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Idina Menzel, Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, and Wynonna Judd.
“As I’m bringing this chapter of my career to a close, this will be an unforgettable way to celebrate with my talented friends, who I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with,” stated Kenny Rogers. “It means so much that they would feel compelled to do this for me. Of course, the night would not be the same without Dolly Parton being part of it. We’ve enjoyed a special friendship for decades, and I’ll forever look back fondly on the many collaborations, performances, and laughs we’ve shared as some of the most extraordinary moments of my career. I know it will be a moving experience for us standing on that stage together for one last time,” Rogers shared about the upcoming musical event.
Rogers will receive the 80th star on the Music City Walk of Fame. Inductees are recognized for their significant contributions to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song or other industry collaboration.
“Kenny Rogers is one of the best storytellers in country music history, with one of the sweetest and most soulful voices,” Nashville Mayor Megan Barry shared in a statement. “I’m so glad he’ll be able to join all the other amazing artists on the Music City Walk of Fame before he retires after nearly 60 years of making beautiful music.”
The Music City Walk of Fame was created in 2006 on Nashville’s Music Mile, a roughly one-mile stretch that connects downtown to Music Row. Permanent sidewalk medallions with the names of the inductees are displayed in a star-and-guitar design. Roger’s induction ceremony will be held on October 24th at 1 p.m. at Walk of Fame Park. The event is free and open to the public.
Congrats to Kenny and be sure to share this update with other fans of the star!
