As country music superstar Kenny Chesney wrapped up his Trip Around the Sun Tour in Boston, Massachusetts, the Tennessee native also hit a new record—- 1,298,088 tickets sold across 19 stadiums and 41 total shows during his 2018 tour!
“This entire summer has been a new threshold in terms of how No Shoes Nation has come at these songs, these shows, these moments,” reflected Chesney. “Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, something else would happen… And then we saw a whole new response, whether it was the cheers, the way the audiences sang or the looks on people’s faces. It was incredible.”
During his Saturday show, the star brought Karen Duggan, who’d purchased the millionth ticket sold for Chesney’s almost annual shows at the home of the New England Patriots, onstage and told the audience, “Karen is every single one of you. Each of you is a part of selling a million tickets; you are all one in a million – and I want to thank you for loving life and loving music.”
Duggan, an emergency room nurse, is being given her very own trip to anywhere in the world and season tickets to see the Patriots play. But more importantly, she shared some quality time with the star she’s seen at Gillette 15 times out of the 19 total plays.
The country music entertainer’s second single from Songs for the Saints, is the week’s most added single at country radio. Fresh on the heels of his record-breaking 30th No. 1 “Get Along,” “Better Boat” reflects on pushing through life’s rough patches and coming out better on the other side.
“I’ve always tried to cut songs that reflect life as I’ve lived it, or seen people around me live it,” Chesney explains. “If I can see it, feel it, know that it’s real, I know it’s real for others, too, and that’s where music’s real power lies. Give people their life, lift them up or give them clarity, and you’d be amazed what can happen. Not just when songs capture someone’s life, but when they tell you how their life changed because of one of the songs you’ve written or recorded.”

“Better Boat” Lyrics
I ain’t lonely, but I spend a lot of time alone
More than I’d like to, but I’m okay with stayin’ home
My how the last few months have changed
I’m smilin’ more despite the pain
I breathe in, I breathe out
Got friends to call who let me talk about
What ain’t workin’, what’s still hurtin’
All the things I feel like cussin’ out
Now and then I let it go, I ride the waves I can’t control
I’m learnin’ how to build a better boat
I hate waitin’, ain’t no patience in these hands
I’m not complainin’, sometimes it’s hard to change a man
I think I’m stronger than I was
I let God do what he does
I breathe in, I breathe out
Got friends to call who let me talk about
What ain’t workin’, what’s still hurtin’
All the things I feel like cussin’ out
Now and then I let it go, I ride the waves I can’t control
I’m learnin’ how to build a better boat
I breathe in, I breathe out
Got friends to call who let me talk about
What ain’t workin’, what’s still hurtin’
All the things I feel like cussin’ out
Now and then I let it go, I ride the waves I can’t control
If it’s workin’, I don’t know, when I get done the thing may not float
But I’m learnin’ how to build a better boat
