Country superstar Kenny Chesney just released his new song, “Get Along,” on April 6th, marking the start of a new chapter in his life. The song follows his most recent No. 1 hit “All the Pretty Girls,” and it is his first track released through Warner Music Nashville – his new record label.
While making a statement regarding this new period in his music and his life, the star addressed the struggles present in today’s world while offering his music as an escape.
“Some days, it’s like the world is just angry, screaming people, all harping on what’s wrong, how other people are awful,” Chesney said, according to CMT. “The more I move around, talking to people, though, the more I know people are seeking the same things, working hard to get by and hoping for the best for their family and friends. It’s simple, but we keep getting driven apart and made unhappy.”
He continued and shared a bit about his new track, “Get Along,” written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, and Josh Osborne.
“When I heard this song, beyond how good the rhythm felt, I was amazed how simply they broke all this stuff down. Get along, find the common ground [and] know the basic stuff is where the joy, the love, the happiness is.”
Chesney believes that music is what you make it, and his music reflects that attitude. His goal is to make songs that not only sound good, but also share a purposeful message such as prompting listeners to live life to the fullest.
